|Sabanci University is a very young institution, and will produce its first graduates this year from the undergraduate programs. The University takes pride in its novel approach to education, an important part of which is close ties with the industry. Within this perspective, Sabanci University established the Corporate Governance Forum of Turkey (CGFT) in partnership with TUSIAD (Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen Association). TUSIAD is a very influential organisation representing almost all of the large corporations in Turkey. CGFT is funded jointly by both parties and given a mission to conduct research, training and awareness activities.
The Graduate School of Management has a PhD programme offering specialisation tracks in organisation theory and operations management. Currently, 6 students are enrolled in this programme. As research in the corporate governance area gains momentum, Sabanci will add to this track through support by RTN. The University also has a strong Masterís programme in Economics, which is designed to prepare students for PhD studies. First graduates of this programme are already placed in various PhD programmes, including those at the University of Chicago and the University of Minnesota.
The Sabanci team is formed under the umbrella of CGFT in order to create a critical mass of researchers locally, who are interested in the Corporate Governance area.
